A NIP IN THE AIR!
We are heading into the last few days of our semi-annual sale, clearing out summer inventory to make room for Fall! We will be restocking the store this Sunday with clothing, shoes, bags and new HoughtonHill jewelry, and we will begin accepting Fall and Winter inventory on Monday, August 15th. Bring us skirts and sweaters, coats, boots and winter athletic wear!
Thanks to all of our customers who supported this year’s Clare to Clare Fashion Show. Our models did a fantastic job, and our hair team from Regis Salons and our make-up team from COR were amazing.
Congratulations to Nichole and Zachary who welcomed beautiful baby Emerson on July 14th! And welcome to Rachel, who joined our team in June.

IT'S GETTING GREEN!
We love seeing the leaves pop out after our long Alaskan winter! Every day brings more color, and our store is also blooming with colorful spring dresses, skirts, top, shoes and bags. Some of our favorite consignors have brought in fabulous items! Check out our Burberry and Louis Vuitton handbags, Missoni, Prada and Isabel Marant dresses, and tons of cute shoes!
Ellen just returned from a week spent scouring the San Francisco area with Shea and Tierney, searching for great summer pieces, which are now available. They were also styling our looks for the upcoming Clare to Clare Fashion show at the Dena ‘ina Center, happening on July 28th. Stay tuned for info about tickets.

This week we “rescued” two beautiful David Green furs: a burgundy sheared beaver with fox-trimmed hood and a black sheared mink, also with a hood. Nothing keeps you warmer when the temperatures drop than fur! We have a great selection of gently used furs at all price points at Second Run².
Did you know that we now have a small selection of wedding dresses? If you are newly engaged, stop by and check out our gowns. Just in is a gorgeous Alfred Angelo strapless dress with a long pearl encrusted tiered skirt. My favorite is an Amy Michaelson slinky cream silk dress. Many of our wedding gowns are new with tags.
Please welcome two new additions to the Second Run team: Siva joined our staff in December, and Celeste has been working with us through an internship program within the Anchorage School District. 'Tis the Season
Happy Holidays from all of us at Second Run! We have great party dresses in stock right now…Ellen met up with Tierney and Shea in San Francisco and together they found some fun things! We have a fabulous selection of furs at Second Run² to keep you warm as the temperature drops. We also carry Voluspa candles, which make easy last minute gifts. Our Canine Fashion Show last week was crazy and fun. Our wonderful models included Poncho the Chihuahua, Little Bear the French bulldog and Sampson the Golden Retriever. All models received swag bags for a job well done!

What's New?
We have lots of great stuff in both stores right now…this week we got lots of great premium denim, boots and handbags! Second Run² will host a First Friday on November 5, 2010 for Jessica’s HoughtonHill Jewelry. Jess is busy making lots of new treasures, and all HoughtonHill will be 20% off at the event.
Finally, our 4th Annual Dog Fashion Show is set for Friday December 3rd at 5:30 PM at the original Second Run. Our furry friends of all sizes will model creations from BJ’s Bow Wow Knits, and the designer herself will be visiting for the event!

Grand Opening!
We at Second Run have some exciting news! We are growing and will expand into the suite previously occupied by About Face, located around the corner at 720 D Street Suite B. Our grand opening will be on Friday, October 1st.
All consignment intake will be conducted in the new space effective October 1, 2010. For your convenience there is a freight-loading zone outside on D Street. You will be able to drop off clothing anytime Monday through Saturday.
All of our “nighttime” clothing will move to the new space, including all dresses, gowns, furs, and evening shoes and accessories. We will also begin to accept wedding dresses on consignment, by appointment only.
We believe the quality of your shopping and consigning experiences at Second Run will improve with these changes, and we greatly appreciate your loyalty and support. We look forward to seeing you October 1st!

18 HOURS, 35 MINUTES OF DAYLIGHT!
We hope you are enjoying your summer so far! We have changed our look a bit with some minor remodeling, and we’re loving our new, more open space. Great pieces continue to come in daily, and we have tons of summer dresses, tops and jeans.
We are participating in this month’s Clare to Clare Fashion Show, benefiting Clare House! Tables are sold out, but VIP runway seating is open. Tickets are $50 and are available at the store. Second Run is closing out the runway portion of the event, and we have some fabulous top designer dresses to show!
Our summer clearance sale will begin at 11 AM on Friday, August 6th. EVERYTHING will be 25% off, with most summer merchandise 50% to 75%! Our regulars know that we only have two sales per year, and they are HUGE!!! The sale runs August 6th through August 14th.
We will begin taking fall and winter merchandise on Monday, August 16th. We will also be outside shopping bringing back lots of fun new fall things!!!

OVERBOARD!
Tickets for our spring fashion show at the Hotel Captain Cook are available now at Second Run, Blush and Her Tern! VIP tickets are almost sold out here, but we lots of general admission tickets available for $45. The show is called “Overboard,” features clothing from Second Run, Blush and Her Tern, and will be held Thursday, April 1, at 7PM. Tickets will not be available at the door!
Our huge Semi-Annual Sale starts Friday, March 12th, at 11 AM. EVERYTHING, including jewelry and furs, will be 25 –50-75% off through March 20th. Ellen is out shopping for the fashion show and for spring season, so after the sale we will have a store full of spring and summer items!

Wow!
We just received boxes and boxes of great rocker chic clothes from our pal back east! Clothes are fun and funky and mostly sizes 2-4-6! Come in now for best selection of these new arrivals! We’re saving some fabulous pieces for our spring fashion show “Overboard!” It is now scheduled for April 1st at the Hotel Captain Cook. Stay tuned for details!
Ellen participated in last weekend’s fashion / art event OBJECT/RUNWAY …a fashion show and contest for local designers. Christopher Straub from last season’s Project Runway showed a capsule collection and along with Ellen, judged the competition. There were some fantastic entries! Congrats to winners Ann-Margaret Wimmerstedt and Sheila Wyne!
Our Semi-Annual Sale will begin March 12th. We will begin taking spring and summer items after the sale, beginning on March 22.

Happy New Year!
Thanks to all of our loyal customers for making 2009 a great year! We’ve been getting lots in already this week…a great Dunlin bag, several Coach bags and lots of great jeans. We have a beautiful red Marc Jacobs bag and several studded Kooba bags as well. We will be taking winter items only through the end of this month, and our winter-end semi-annual sale will begin March 12th.
In response to many requests, we are working on putting together another fun fashion event with our friends at Her Tern, Blush and About Face. Tentatively save the date of March 25th! We will keep you posted!

The Circle of Love
Today we are so sad to say goodbye to all of our friends from the “Lion King” cast and crew! We loved the show SO MUCH and were fortunate to get to know many cast members! While they head south to San Diego, we are getting ready for another Alaskan winter. Check out our ever-growing collection of great coats: vintage, contemporary, fur and leather. We got in some great designer handbags today, but they are going fast!

I Left My Heart in San Francisco
We are looking out at San Francisco Bay this morning from our “buying office” in Sausalito, and it is incredibly beautiful! We’ve been picking up all kinds of fun things here to bring back to the store, especially lots of party dresses and fun tops and sweaters…a Burberry coat, Miu Miu and Kate Spade shoes, Betsy Johnson and Rebecca Taylor dresses and more! We are getting loads of new consignment items in daily at the store as well. Please remember that we are taking Fall and Winter items only! We just started taking furs in great shape, and we have already received a few beauties!
We return to Anchorage this weekend and hope to have all the new items out by Sunday! Check it out!

Here Comes the Sun!
Wow! Our spring has been so gorgeous! We have sold more summer dresses in three weeks than we did all last summer, thanks to our gorgeous sunny weather! We still have lots! Plus fun knit tops, blouses, sandals & sunglasses.
HoughtonHill’s new jewelry is stunning…check out her gold vermeil pieces. The great colors in her stones set off a tan beautifully!
It has been great to see some of our favorite customers back from college…Emma and Annie and Page and Megan and Kelsey…Welcome home!

We See the Light!
The snow and ice are almost gone, and our days keep getter bigger and brighter. Second Run is packed with spring merchandise: dresses, jeans, tops and lots of great shoes and bags. We also have a new line of cute little girls clothing that we’re featuring in our store picks section. Our ski bunny Shea is back for the summer and we are thrilled to have her home! Nichole, Cricket and Max are heading back to the Midwest for the summer. We will miss them, but they promise to send us goodie boxes occasionally.

An Eruption of Color!
Along with last week’s eruption of Mt Redoubt, Second Run has had an eruption of Spring Color! We have replenished racks that were decimated by our semi-annual clearance with tons of fun spring clothing, shoes and handbags that we’ve been stockpiling in our back room! Ellen and Taylor also brought back lots of great finds from their outside shopping trip, which included an unplanned overnight in Seattle due to the volcano!
We are accepting high quality spring items now, Monday through Thursday. Please make sure that your items are clean and neatly folded or on hangers so that they can go right out on the floor. We won’t accept items that aren’t in excellent condition.
This Thursday, April 2nd, we will host a reception for HoughtonHill Jewelry from 5-8PM. Jessica will be introducing her new line of gold vermeil jewelry, and all HoughtonHill will be 20% off. Please join us!

We’re Almost Ready for Spring!
We are now officially Second Run, LLC. We loved being Out of the Closet, but we have moved forward! Our big Semi-Annual Sale begins this Friday, March 13th, at 11 AM. Everything in the store will be 25-50-75% off, as we make room to bring out our Spring merchandise. The sale will continue through March 21.

BRRRR!
Wow! It’s cold outside! Here in Anchorage, we are in the middle of a record-breaking cold snap! This morning, it was -15 degrees! We “Closet” girls keep warm in our “rescued “furs. Nothing keeps us warmer when it is freezing outside! Check out our great selection in all price ranges!

The Freeze Project and the Anchorage Museum are hosting a “Frozen in Time 80’s Prom” on January 17th at the museum. Tickets are $25. We’re trying to stock up on 80’s style dresses and will look on our trip…

The Store Formerly Known as Out of the Closet!
As many of you know, we have been forced to change our store name, as “Out of the Closet” is trademarked and registered nationally by the Aids Healthcare Foundation.
Our working name is “The Closet” and we will make a new name official soon.
We were outside shopping last week and have TONS of new Holiday/Party dresses and gowns in all sizes! We also have lots of St. John still, and a fabulous group of European designer name suits and jackets in size 4.
We also stocked up on cute knit tops and hoodies, and bought loads of pashimas and silk scarves.
Mark your calendars for our third annual Dog Fashion Show on Friday, December 5th, at 5:30 PM. This event is always crazy and fun, with dog models of all sizes wearing new creations from BJ’s Bow Wow Knits and I See Spot. Handlers will wear coordinating outfits from The Closet.

LIVE! FROM ANCHORAGE! IT’S OUT OF THE CLOSET!
Things have been hopping here at Out of the Closet! We’ve had lots of support from all our great customers & friends, and we especially want to thank the Alaska Makeup Team of Melanie, Becca & Mia at www.alaskamakeupteam.com.
Saturday, Out of the Closet will again participate in the Success Inside and Out Conference at Highland Mountain Correctional Center. Alaska Chief Justice Dana Fabe inspired this conference, which brings soon-to-be-released inmates together with local women leading workshops focusing on personal finance, wellness, the probation system, writing a resume and other topics that will help them reintegrate into society. Ellen will present a lunchtime fashion show, featuring inmates as models, that teaches attendees how to build a basic wardrobe.
This Friday we are celebrating Halloween at the store, and customers who come into the store in costume get 10% off their purchases!
Mark your calendar for our First Friday Reception for HoughtonHill Jewelry on Friday, November 7th from 5PM - 8PM. Jessica is making new pieces and will offer a 20% discount at the event! This a great opportunity to stock up on holiday gifts, so please join us!
On December 4th, we will be hosting our 3rd annual Dog Fashion Show! This is a not-to-be-missed event, showcasing our fabulous crew of dog models! The show will start at 6 PM and well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome! Treats, both human and canine, will be offered.
Our regulars know that we donate to many charitable causes. Clothing that does not sell and is not reclaimed is donated weekly to the Anchorage SPCA Thrift Store.

HANDBAG HEAVEN
We hit the jackpot this weekend in the handbag department! We got three pristine Chloe bags: a tan Edith, a gray-blue Paddington and a rust Elvire. We also received five Isabella Fiores, a Fendi, an Yves St. Laurent, a D&G, and several Bottega Venetas.
We also bought an inventory of shoes and boots, all NEW in boxes. Many of the shoes are party/holiday shoes, and all will sell for $50. All boots will be $60.
If you are a St. John fan, we received lots of gorgeous size 8-14 suits and jackets, which are going fast. We also have lots of Misook from the same consignee.

MODERN ROMANCE!
We are almost out of tickets for our exciting fall fashion show, Modern Romance, which is being held at the new Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center next Friday, October 3rd. This show is a collaboration involving Out of the Closet, Blush, About Face, She Boutique, Her Tern and Skinny Raven. Our clothes and models are incredible, as is the jewelry especially made for the show by Jessica of HoughtonHill. VIP tickets sold out immediately, but regular seats are still available. Tickets are $60, and include admission, table seating, appetizers and desserts, the show, and boutique shopping at the Center immediately following the show. TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!
We are getting great fall pieces in every day! This week we received some Prada and Manolo Blahnik shoes, lots of Ella Moss and some cute winter coats.

WE LOVE FALL
We hope that you are ready for fall, even though we didn’t really have a summer! WE LOVE FALL! All the new clothes being shown in the magazines are scrumptious, and we are busy selecting great pieces for the store from our many wonderful consigners.
We are also having too much fun putting together outfits for out fall fashion show, Modern Romance, to be held at the new Anchorage Convention Center on October 3, 2008. The show is a joint venture between six independent downtown boutiques: She, Skinny Raven, Her Tern, Blush, About Face, and Out of the Closet! VIP tickets are already gone, but great seats are still available at all stores for $60. The show features day and evening looks from all the participant boutiques, appetizers and desserts, a no-host bar and a “Mini-Boutique” after the show.
Nichole and Ellen are setting off on a three-city buying whirlwind this Thursday. They will be sending boxes back to the store from each stop and bringing back more when they return on September 11th. Check out the store September 12th and after to see what treasures they find!
Finally, we are thrilled that our favorite Governor is making such a name for herself on the national stage! Go Girl! We love seeing you in your Out of the Closet duds!

Sale!
We’re trying to stay upbeat here at OOTC despite the AWFUL weather. Of course, shopping is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon, and we have lots of fun new pieces that keep coming in. Our twice-yearly sale starts AUGUST 1ST and continues through AUGUST 9TH. Everything in the store except new jewelry will be at least 25% off, and most summer stock will be 50 – 75% off! On August 1st and 2nd, we will have our customary wine and chocolate to make your sale experience even more delicious.
We will not be taking consignment July 28 – August 9th due to our sale. We will begin taking fall clothes, shoes and bags August 10th.

Italy!
As many of you know, I am off to Italy to celebrate Mom’s 80th birthday! I am also planning to soak up not only sun but Italian style! Many of the world’s most fabulous clothes originate in Italy, and while I don’t plan to buy much, I do plan to see how Italian women put it all together!
Please welcome Shea to our staff. Shea loves fashion and has her own look, as do all members of our OOTC tribe. She has been shopping and consigning with us for several years, and we are all thrilled to have her on our team.
I have some disappointing news for you die-hard fashionistas. As of this moment, our SONO Summer Fashion Show has been cancelled. Logistics weren’t coming together as we hoped they would, so instead, we will have a SONO in-store event to be announced that same weekend: July 26-27th. We will still make our party a benefit for the Four A’s Organization…stay tuned as we figure it all out.

Summer in the City
Thanks to all our loyal customers for bringing in and buying great gently used items! All of us at OOTC value and appreciate you!
Ellen spent last week in San Francisco shopping for Sono Fashion Show pieces as well as other fun things from great designers. We also have a terrific new consigner from Mill Valley who sent up duffels of great dresses, jeans and skirts size 2-4, as well as size 7.5 – 8 shoes and handbags!
Our Sex in the City Party at Bernies is May 29th, and should be a hoot! Dress like your favorite character and win prizes and get Sex in the City Movie Premiere passes. Tickets are on sale now at our store for $30.
On June 6th, we will have a First Friday opening for Jessica Brunsting / HoughtonHill Jewelry at the store from 5PM – 8 PM. Jess will show great new pieces and, as always, offer discounts on purchases at the event.
Save the date: July 26th! The third Sono Fashion Show with a Garden Party theme will be the fashion event of the summer. We have all sorts of events being planned for “Fashion Week” in Sono, so stay in touch for ticket information.

Nichole, Ellen and Paula shopped in LA for four days and found GREAT DEALS on loads of cute spring and summer items. We have switched the store over to SPRING mode, despite the fact that we are having a BLIZZARD today! Our OOTC tribe suffered a tragedy on December 31 when we lost our princess Ava, Nichole’s 2-year old Yorkshire Terrier, in an accident. We are all very sad and miss her terribly.
We begin the New Year with a freshened look and lots of new inventory. Also, Ellen is away shopping, and rumor has it that there are already boxes in the mail! She returns Sunday January 20th, and we’ve been told she and Ziggy are working on suntans and scouting far and wide for great pieces for our customers.
Join us in bidding farewell to our beloved Michele, who has left us to focus on her Bubba’s Dog Walking venture. We begged and pleaded with her to stay, but the dogs won out! We will greatly miss her outrageous humor, fab singing and hard work.
For those of you who haven’t met her, Taylor is our newest tribe member! She is a senior at Chugiak, looks like a model and has a great sense of style! You’ll see her photos soon on our website!

We’ve Got the Blues!
Thanks to all for putting up with our makeover paint job last weekend! We love our new blue look and will be adding to our revamped palette as pieces arrive.
Ellen returned from shopping in California with tons of elegant dresses for holiday parties. We have lots of short cocktail and dance dresses as well as long gowns in all sizes. We also have a great selection of fabulous David Green furs at very affordable prices.
Great inventory keeps pouring in…Romney-painted Danskos and handbags, cashmere sweaters and tons of jeans.

Haute Couture and Halloween
Last week, we brought in some fabulous high-end pieces from the collection of a good friend. The clothes include a sumptuous jeweled silk Carolina Herrera dress & jacket in raspberry, size 10, a gorgeous winter white Oscar de la Renta evening suit, size 10, a stunning Rochas peach tweed jacket, size 10, and much more. Pieces range in size from 6 – 14, range in price from $100 – $950, and are perfect for that special event on your calendar.
Great inventory keeps coming in…lots of great sweaters and jackets and jeans. We really need cute party dresses and gowns right now, so if you aren’t going to wear it, CONSIGN it!

Get Your Warm Fuzzies Here!
On Friday, October 12th, from 3 – 5 PM, we will host a trunk show of warm and fuzzy hand-knit dog sweaters from BJ’s Bow Wow Knits! We are dog-on-a-leash friendly, so bring your pooch to try on some warm winter sweaters! We also recently received a new shipment of I See Spot Dog T-Shirts that are really cute!
It is really getting chilly, and we are stocking up on gorgeous David Green Furs from consignees: Mink, Beaver, Fox and even a fun Curly Lamb. There is NOTHING warmer than fur, and we Alaskan girls deserve one!
Also, today we received a treasure trove of pieces from HoughtonHill: incredible raw sapphire necklaces, chunky jeweled bracelets and many beautiful, colorful rings, necklaces and earrings. These pieces are locally made by our very talented friend Jessica and make fantastic holiday gifts. Mark your calendars! Great Fall Stuff!
We have been overwhelmed with beautiful fall clothes from our great consignees! This week’s haul includes a gorgeous Missoni NWT dress, size 44, fabulous cashmere by Malo and TSE, lots of Faconnable and wonderful pieces in LARGER SIZES…14-16! If you wear a 7 ½ - 8 shoe, you are in luck this week as well! Prada, Tods and Christian Louboutin shoes are here waiting for you!
Many of our customers complain that we have so many great small sized pieces and need more in sizes 12-16…here it is!
We also have received two huge racks of NEW clothing from Rosita’s Boutique in the Hotel Captain Cook. Rosita is retiring to Seattle, and we are helping her move her inventory. It is all New With Tags, and we are selling it for ½ retail price here at Out of the Closet!

Shopping with Ronzie
I just returned from a great visit with my good friend Ronzie in the Beautiful Bay Area! Not only did we enjoy spectacular scenery and weather, but we also found several great sales and lots of fun pieces for fall! In Marin, we found a great pink satin Catherine Malandrino trench and a fabulous Longchamps leather shoulderbag. In SF, we bought Prada, Marni and Save the Queen. In Berkeley, we found Diane von Furstenberg and shoes galore! I splurged on Commes des Garcons and Taryn Rose, while Ronzie couldn’t live without Burberry and Prada. It’s going fast! Looking Toward Fall
Starting tomorrow, August 6th, we will be accepting Fall and Winter items: skirts, pants, sweaters, jackets, coats, shoes and boots. We just put out most of the fall items we have been saving in the back, but we are ready to accept consignment NOW!
Use one of these rainy days to go through your closet and eliminate those items that are still current and are in good shape but, for some reason, don’t work for you anymore. If you haven’t worn it in the past two years, donate it or consign it! If you don’t feel great when you wear it, consign it with us and use your $$ to get something that you LOVE!

Fashion Show!
Our SONO Summer Fashion Show was a smashing success at Bernie’s last Saturday evening. Shipshewana!
Greetings from Shipshewana, Indiana…home of Nichole Fanning Stubbs, also known as #2. The OOTC tribe is flocking to the Midwest to celebrate Nichole and Zach’s wedding on July 14th!
We shopped for last minute fashion show styles in Chicago and picked up some Chloe, Balenciaga and Prada. We almost melted in the sweltering heat but were saved by the amazing thunderstorms. Ziggy made a splash with his dreadlocks on Michigan Avenue!
Get ready for fashion week in SONO starting next Monday, July 16th! Each day will feature a new 20% off special…Jeans, Shoes, Dresses, etc.

SONO Beach
It is a gorgeous afternoon on SONO Beach! Summer is here finally, and we have lots to report:
OOTC’s Avianna McKee was just named Miss Outstanding Teen Alaska! We are so proud of Avi, and wish her well in the national pageant in Orlando, Floraida in August.
Nichole got married to longtime love Zachary on May 12th! Paula performed the ceremony, and Ellen handled Ava & Ziggy in their roles as ringbearer and flower girl.
Nichole’s Mom, Darlene, and her sisters Andrea and Rachel and brother-in-law Vince journeyed up from the Midwest to witness the small, family-only event. We will post photos when they become available!
Nichole, Ellen and Paula made a stealth trip to Phoenix over Memorial Day Weekend and returned with SEVEN suitcases full of great clothes, shoes and handbags!
Our SONO Anniversary Party is at Bernies on June 30th. Soulman Sam is playing, so come out & help us celebrate the SONO District’s third summer.
Finally, mark your calendars for SONO Fashion Week, July 16-21, culminating with our fabulous SONO Fashion Show at 7:00 PM on July 21st! Spring has Sprung!
WOW! The ice is gone and our store is full of bright spring colors and shapes! We have received beautiful new pieces from Bella Sera, several of which are featured in our west window. New consignments are pouring in! And, we welcome Robin Farmer to OOTC as our newest tribe member.
Our big news this month is that we are now featuring HoughtonHill Jewelry! Designer Jessica makes exquisite necklaces and earrings using gorgeous semi-precious stones and sterling silver. Her prices are incredible, and we are thrilled to have her as part of the OOTC family.
We have enlarged and revamped our shoe section and are currently making plans to add a high-end maternity section. We hope to start taking maternity clothes within the next few weeks.

Happy Easter
We have been out of touch! Not only was our March here in Anchorage one of the coldest on record, but also we have all been busy trying to keep up with the incredible influx of great clothes and accessories from our consignees.
We finally are, literally, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! We received some great designer shoes last week…Kate Spade, Gucci and Stuart Weitzman included. We also have been getting lots of great spring skirts, blouses, pants and dresses from Anthropologie, Ann Taylor, Laundry and Ralph Lauren. We are now accepting spring items Monday through Thursday only.
Our $5 Wednesday Sale has been hugely popular! Our weekly regulars will attest to finding incredible buys for $5, including Armani and Ferragamo! Rumor has it that our neighboring SONO merchant will begin featuring Wednesday specials as well!
Save these dates!!! Our annual Summer Fashion Show will be held outside at Bernie’s on July 21st! A limited number of VIP tickets will go on sale at the end of June. On July 7, 2007, our own Rock Star Karina and her band Pumyua will perform outdoors at Bernie’s. We can’t wait!
Ellen and Ziggy are off traveling around shopping and won’t return for several weeks. Watch for great boxes of her finds to arrive by mail regularly. Will the mice play while the cat’s away???

Get Ready!
Our Semi-Annual Clearance Sale begins this Friday, Feb 23rd at 11:00 AM. All winter merchandise will be marked down at least 25% and up to 75%! We will NOT BE TAKING ANY ITEMS until March 5th, 2007. At that time we will begin taking spring and summer items!

Shopgirl Blog
Leslie Boyd, aka Shopgirl, writes a blog on the Anchorage Daily News website about shopping in Anchorage. Last Thursday, she made note of a window display inspired by the film “Dreamgirls” and mentioned a store with $5 midweek specials. January Happenings
We just received Ellen’s load of purchases from her Arizona Buying trip. She focused on finding great cocktail dresses and gowns, knit tops and skirts. We have a great selection of the above at great prices!
Many of our favorite consignees have been closet cleaning, and we are getting in some cute new things! Nichole reports that a great batch just came in today!
We have decided to hold our first ever Fur Sale next Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 30 & 31. ALL FURS will be 25% off for two days only. Get a great deal on a warm parka or coat to wear during Fur Rendezvous, which begins Feb. 23!
We are hosting a First Friday reception for jewelry artist Kathy Goodell on Friday, Feb. 2, from 5 – 7:30 PM. Kathy is making some gorgeous pieces using silver, sapphires, rubies and other stones. All pieces will be 15% off at the show only!
Finally, we have scheduled our semiannual clearance sale to begin Friday, Feb 23 thru Saturday, March 2, 2007. Almost all merchandise will be 25%, 50% or 75% off! We will begin taking spring merchandise on March 4, 2007. Stay Warm!

We’re getting some great things in from year-end closet cleaners! We got in some really fun dresses including Rebecca Taylor & BCBG, and today we received some cute Anthropologie pieces. Out half price racks are full of good deals!
Ellen is heading south next week on her first buying trip of the year. She will be shopping in Arizona, and we expect to receive a few boxes around the 15th and remainder when Ellen returns on January 19th!

JAILHOUSE Rock
We were excited to be asked to participate in the first ever “Success Inside and Out” conference at Highland Mountain Correctional Facility. With assistance from Dana, Denny, Noni and Sarah, all residents at Highland, we put on a lunch break “Do’s and Don’ts” fashion show geared for women transitioning back into the workplace. Paula, Nichole and Trina modeled the Don’t part of the show, and everyone involved had a great time.
We thank Chief Justice Dana Fsbe for inviting our participation in this groundbreaking event.

High Fashion and Halloween
We have been BUSY! We have lots of new stuff in the store and lots of projects in the works.
On Wednesday, October 25th, we helped our friend Meredith Palmier host a fashion show and sale at the Quarter Deck, Hotel Captain Cook. Meredith put together a great collection of new designer gowns, suits, jackets and coats that she is selling for fantastic prices. Designers include Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, Dior and Yves St. Laurent.
We are all dressing for Halloween on October 31. Anyone who comes into the store in costume will receive 10% off all purchases!
Ellen will head out to San Francisco in a week or so to shop for holiday dresses. She will have the new pieces in the store November 14th!

Brand New Kenzie!!
Natalie, our Bellingham-based buyer, has discovered a wonderful cache of fun, brand new Kenzie & Mac & Jac pieces that she has been sending us over the last few weeks. We love getting her boxes and never know what wonderful things will be inside!
Michelle has headed to Las Vegas for a sister’s reunion, and Karina is departing for Greenland and Denmark where she will give a workshop & concert. Paula is heading for Rancho La Puerta for a healthy retreat with her husband. Poor Nichole is left with me (on crutches from knee surgery!) and, in desperation decided to create her own 25% markdown rack to deal with the influx of great new clothes! Check it out!

Just returned from NYC, where the weather was hot and sunny and the fashionistas were out in force!
Paula, Rosalind (my friend from Sausalito) and I spent one day in Soho, Nolita & the Lower East Side, and picked up a few great pieces, including Moschino, Issey Miyake, Dries Van Noten & some new pieces from Foley & Corrina. We met Andrea Ruff on Prince Street, where she was selling fabulous soft leather bags that she makes in her flat in Brooklyn. We couldn’t decide between black or red, but ended up ordering twin black slouch bags! Andrea works as a fashion stylist and sells her bags to clients including Molly Sims and Joy Bryant. Ours should arrive in a week or so.
Saturday we shopped at my friend Jon’s high end consignment boutiques on the Upper East Side. We bought Prada, Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Dries Van Noten, Moschino and more! It is all being shipped and should arrive Thursday! We finished our day in the Meatpacking District, buying twin berets from my pal Heidi at Catherine Malandrino and drooling over all of the fabulous things at Jeffrey (I’ll take the ruched black Prada bag and the black patent Jimmy Choo boots!)
Dinner at Spice Market ended a fantastic day!

Nicole just returned from Indiana last night and brought two new outfits for Ziggy... a denim jacket and a fishing vest with matching cap! Trina is in Philadelphia for her 10th High School Reunion. Karina is singing at the Alaska State Fair this afternoon, and a black bear TRASHED my cabin. Hence, I am sitting in the store blogging on Labor Day instead of kayaking in Kachemak Bay.
Paula and I are heading To New York City on Wednesday, and I have a severe case of Big Apple-itis! I can't wait to see what is being worn on the street! It is Fashion Week, after all! We'’ll be scouring my favorite haunts for great pieces for the store. Check back for updates on what we see and hear and find!
